Frequently asked questions
What can I expect during my first therapy session?
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin exploring what has brought you to therapy. Together, we will discuss your current concerns, personal history, goals, and any questions you may have about the therapeutic process.
How often should I attend therapy?
While every individual's needs are different, many clients begin with weekly sessions to establish consistency and build momentum. As therapy progresses, the frequency of sessions can be adjusted based on your goals and needs.
What is your approach to therapy?
My work is rooted in psychodynamic, attachment-based, and somatic approaches. Together, we will explore the patterns, relationships, and experiences that may be influencing your life today while developing greater self-awareness, insight, and emotional resilience.
What is nervous system regulation?
Nervous system regulation refers to our ability to respond to stress, emotions, and life experiences in a way that feels manageable and balanced. Through body-based approaches, mindfulness, breathwork, and psychoeducation, clients can learn practical tools to better understand and regulate their nervous system.
Do you work with trauma?
Yes. I work with individuals navigating trauma, attachment wounds, intergenerational trauma, and difficult life experiences. My approach integrates Somatic Experiencing® (Modules I & II), Polyvagal-informed principles, and psychodynamic therapy to support healing and nervous system regulation.
Do you work with first-generation individuals and families?
Yes. As a first-generation Persian American, I understand many of the unique challenges that can arise when navigating multiple cultural identities, family expectations, boundaries, and questions of belonging. This is a specialty area within my practice.
Do you offer virtual or in-person therapy?
Yes. I offer both virtual therapy throughout California and in-person sessions in West Los Angeles. My office is conveniently located near Barrington Avenue and Olympic Boulevard, providing a comfortable and private space for clients who prefer to meet in person.
Together, we can determine which format best supports your needs and lifestyle.
What issues do you commonly help clients with?
Some areas of focus include attachment and relationship patterns, family enmeshment and boundaries, trauma and nervous system regulation, grief and inner child work, addiction recovery, first-generation family dynamics, self-esteem, anxiety, and life transitions.
What are your fees?
Please visit the fees page for current rates and service offerings. If you have questions regarding fees, I am happy to discuss them during your consultation.
How do I get started?
You can reach out through the Contact page to schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation. This initial conversation allows us to discuss what brings you to therapy, answer any questions you may have, and determine whether we may be a good fit for working together.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many individuals seek therapy because they feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or curious about understanding themselves more deeply. Therapy can provide support, insight, and a space to explore patterns that may be impacting your relationships, emotional well-being, and overall quality of life.
Do you accept insurance?
Nicole is an out-of-network provider and does not bill insurance directly. Upon request, a monthly superbill can be provided for clients who wish to seek reimbursement through their insurance benefits. It is recommended that you contact your insurance provider directly to learn more about your out-of-network coverage.
